Microchipping is the latest and most secure form of pet identification and is now mandatory for all newly registered dogs and cats within the Golden Plains Shire.
An encapsulated transponder about the size of a grain of rice is implanted beneath the skin which when scanned emits a unit number. This unit number is used to identify the animal’s owner and retrieve their contact details.
